Managing Your Time Indoors by Norkhairunisya

As many people have known, citizens from all around the world had been asked by the government to stay indoors for fourteen days due to the well-known virus that has been spreading for almost four months. This virus previously was known as the Coronavirus Disease 2019, and later was named as COVID-19. Citizens are asked to stay indoors as to avoid the spread and thus to stop the chain of the virus. This is because the virus can spread just by inhaling droplets if virus in the air resulted from coughs and sneezes by an infected person. The virus can also be spread by touching a surface or an object that is previously touched by an infected person, and then touching their own eyes, nose or even mouth.

One of the most important steps in keeping yourself safe from the virus is to regularly wash our hands with soap or use hand sanitizers. Citizens are advised to follow the correct ways of washing hands before they touch their face. The Ministry of Health has given the guidelines to wash hands correctly. The steps begin by wetting the hands under clean running water before applying soap to our hands thoroughly for 20 seconds. Next, rub rapidly our both hands, in between fingers until the wrists. Lastly, make sure our hands are rinsed well under the running water and dry completely with a clean towel. Soap and hand sanitizers are used to remove the micro-organisms that could cause the spread. The correct way of hand washing is able to prevent the spread of germs from one person to another.

Though it gets harder for most people to continue their daily routines as they are used to doing outdoor activities, it certainly doesn’t mean that it is impossible to do them indoors. Staying healthy does not confine to going outside like exercisingin the gym or at our local recreation parks, but it can also be done by doing simple yet helpful exercises at home. With the ability to access to the internet in this modern day today, we can take up online exercise classes too even under the supervision of personal trainers. Other than doing the physical exercises, one should also constantly do some easy activities at home such as cleaning our rooms. Cleaning our room doesn’t only help us to perspire and build our muscles, but it also boosts our good feeling as it gives us the sense of satisfaction and comfort once the room is tidy. Physical exercises also help to build better immune system thus able to defend our body from being infected. Besides keeping ourselves active at home, we should also drink a lot of water because water can keep our body hydrated and it flushes the virus to the stomach. Eventually kills the virus.

Other than that, we can also spend our quarantine time by discovering our hidden talent. There has been a trend going around the internet recently of people spending their time making the so-called, Dalgona Coffee. Through an easy step of preparing a cup of Starbuck-like coffee, one can encourage others to feel more interested at giving a try and thus increasing their cookery skill. This fun and harmless challenge goes viral on social media causes people feel it is okay to stay at home and occupied. Other than trying out new recipes, we can also spend our time trying new things, such as drawing, painting, writing and playing instruments. Moreover, you can also spend your time reading books with a variety of genres you never thought you would have the time to read before. This can promote your interest in reading and widen our knowledge. I personally feel reading is the most interesting thing you can anticipate in your life. So, if you don’t read, it will be a great waste. There are a lot of amazing books written by talented wonderful authors, who are great in their own way. How would you know you don’t like the book if you haven’t read it? This is the perfect time for you to find out what you like and what you don’t like.

This concluded the many ways to help you overcome your boredom as well as keeping yourself emotionally and physically healthy. I hope this writing helps to inspire and give ideas on what you can do throughout the temporary period of restriction of movement order. Please stay safe and stay indoors.
